Scottish Grand Prix SeriesRacing got underway promptly in a solid and cool F5 North Westerly breeze. This caught Campbell Davis napping and he had a tough race after starting nearly 3 minutes late but he eventually finished 3rd. Early leader Peter Malcolm ran into trouble after capsizing on the first run and had to return to the beach for repairs. David Woakes briefly led after Thomas Hepburn capsized near the start line but later lost this after hitting a mark and then capsizing on a tack. Thomas recovered to win. Races 2 and 3 on Saturday were a bit of a procession after this with the same finishing order in the top 5.
Sunday was brighter and a little warmer which was very welcome. The breeze was fresh and still from the North West around F4. Campbell Davis did not compete which left Thomas Hepburn free to pick up the last two races and take the event with 5 points to spare from Peter Malcolm.
Many thanks to Prestwick for great race management and good shore support with a delicious and very filling meal in the club house on Saturday evening.
The event was also the Scottish Single Handers Championship and Thomas Hepburn finished 2nd overall, with Peter Malcolm 3rd and Steven Forteith 4th.
