Scottish Grand Prix SeriesRace 1 - initially closely contested with places changing frequently in very variable and shifty breeze, until Andy Clegg got a lift up the shore, to open up a clear lead. Steven Forteith looked to have secured second, but was protested out for an incident at the leeward mark, giving second to Peter Taylor, with Pete Malcolm snatching third.
Race 2 - started in a much stronger wind, and with Steven Forteith over the line at the start and having to go back, Pete Malcolm was able to pull out a clear lead on the opening lap, which he held to the end. Neil Ritchie sailed consistently to take second, with Andy Clegg coming through to third.
Race 3 - Steven Forteith led initially, and though Pete Malcolm got through briefly, Steven soon regained the front, and went on to win. Pete then had to battle with Andy Clegg, who came through on the final beat to snatch second.
Race 4 - Peter Taylor took an initial lead, with Steven Forteith pressing hard in second and Andy Clegg in third. Eventually Steven broke through, and when on to win comfortably. Pete Malcolm recovered from a poor start, picking off Andy on lap 3, and then to Peter Taylor's dismay the fleet were sent round for a 4th lap, allowing Pete Malcolm to take second.
Race 5 - the wind had strenthened considerably, and with only 1 point separating Steven Fortieith, Pete Malcolm and Andy Clegg, whoever won the final race would win the event. When Steven was over the line too early, and with Andy struggling in the now Force 5, Pete pulled well clear. Steven sailed brilliantly to pull back to second within a lap, and it looked as though he might threaten. But Pete pulled away again on the lap 3 beat, and then his conservative tactics paid off (tacking twice instead of gybing on the lap 3 reaches) as Steven's challege ended with a swim. Pete duly won the race and the event -was he the only one not to capsize?
